Located in the heart of Beirut, Lebanon, this luxury residence celebrates the elegance of classical European architecture while introducing a refined contemporary lifestyle tailored to modern living. The project focused on transforming an already beautiful apartment into a sophisticated home that honours its architectural heritage while elevating every space through carefully curated interiors.

Designed by ALAï Architecture + Interiors, the renovation preserves the residence's ornate ceilings, original timber herringbone flooring, decorative fireplaces and grand proportions, layering them with timeless furnishings, bespoke lighting and a restrained palette of natural materials. The result is a home that feels both luxurious and effortlessly liveable.

Inspired by Beirut's rich architectural legacy - where French, Mediterranean and Levantine influences intersect - the design embraces craftsmanship, proportion and understated elegance. Every intervention was conceived to enhance the existing architecture rather than compete with it, creating spaces that feel authentic, timeless and deeply connected to their setting.

Project Description

This complete interior transformation demonstrates how thoughtful design can revitalise a heritage-inspired residence without compromising its original character.

The design philosophy was centred on refinement rather than reinvention. Existing architectural features - including intricate cornices, decorative wall panelling, original fireplaces, French doors and chevron timber flooring - were carefully retained and complemented with bespoke interior detailing.

A warm neutral palette establishes a calm and elegant atmosphere throughout the residence. Soft ivory walls, natural stone, brushed brass, walnut timber and luxurious fabrics combine to create interiors that are inviting while allowing the home's classical detailing to remain the focal point.

The living room has been reimagined as an elegant entertaining space, where contemporary furnishings soften the traditional architecture. A carefully selected collection of statement lighting, custom artwork and layered textures adds warmth and sophistication while maintaining visual restraint.
